Avalanche Crashing into a Mountain Hut.
Invisible Worlds - Avalanches, Dan Clifton, BBC, Discovery Channel
Highspeed-Camera: Rudolf Diesel
This shot required a lot of preparation. The highspeed camera had to survive the impact of a large scale avalanche and keep running for several hours afterwards. This requires specially designed CRASH BOXES. These heavy boxes were placed directly into the avalanche path - not an easy task.
This was probably the most dangerous shot of my life: Just minutes before I would head down to the hut to install the camera, a huge avalanche released naturally, destroyed the place completely and reached the team in the safety zone by 10 m. At the second attempt it was almost the same.
